xii | GETYOURSMILEBACK:EVERYTHINGYOUNEEDTOKNOW... My name is Dr. Kal Khaled. I’ve been practicing dentistry since 1986 – and my passion for Implant Dentistry began more than 20 years ago. Over time, I’ve invested hundreds of hours into my continuing education to stay up to date with the latest in implant procedures. My interest in this particular field even inspired me to join the board of directors and become president at the Toronto Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. I also taught other dentists part time at the Faculty of Dentistry in Toronto. My favourite thing about placing implants is the happiness I see in each patient after the process is complete. I’ll always remember a young lady who came to see me for implants because she was missing her two front teeth. She had been wearing a plastic retainer with two fake teeth on it, for years; and it wasn’t the best solution. The “fakeness” of her plastic teeth was damaging her self-esteem, and poking holes in her confidence – especially since she was just starting University and trying to make new friends.
