Five: Do Dental Implants Hurt? | 61
While you may be oblivious to what’s going
on, you can still answer questions, respond to the dentist’s instructions (which makes the surgery go more smoothly), and maintain all your reflexes.
Conscious sedation is perfectly safe; most patients don’t even remember the needle used
to distribute the local anesthetic to the surgery site in their mouths, because the sedation takes effect before the needle for the local anesthetic is administered.
v. Unconscious Sedation
At Village Green Dental, we offer every kind of sedation.
If you want to be completely “knocked out” for your treatment, we will bring in a full anes- thetic crew to monitor your safety while you’re unconscious.
The privilege of inviting an anesthetic team into the surgery allows the dentist to focus entirely on your procedure, instead of dividing any attention between placing your implants and overseeing your well-being while you’re sedated.
